About Us

For years, one of our founders longed to introduce McKinney diners to the Mexican food he loved from the kitchen of his grandmother, Petra.  So, in 2007, we created Petra Fresh Mexican Bistro to honor the delicious recopies from this beautiful woman.

At Petra Fresh Mexican Bistro, we take more time to make everything from scratch, by hand, with the freshest ingredients from recipes that are authentically Mexican, not so much Texan.

When you come to visit, you can choose to enjoy a relaxing occasion with friends and family or a quick meal on the run. Dine in or take out, you will discover authentic Mexican food you won’t find anywhere else.

Petra is a fresh, hip Mexican-style restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, fantastic good, and welcoming staff. My tacos al pastor were amazing, their chips and queso are addictive, but it was their willingness to alter a recipe to help my friend who who cannot eat gluten that impressed me the most. Make sure to give this restaurant a try. You'll love it!

Fantastic authentic tacos. This is a hidden gem. Location may make it hard to find. It has outdoor seating, wonderful salsa. We love the casual atmosphere and a nice place for conversation.
